A marriage license may be issued in any parish, regardless of which parish in Louisiana the ceremony is to be
performed. The completed license must always be filed in the parish where it was purchased.
FEES:
$27.50 in cash for the license
$10.00 in cash for Notary fee if necessary
Only one party must appear in person with the following required documents for both parties.
The following documents are necessary to purchase a marriage license:

Certified copy of Birth Certificate or Birth Card (if not available, you can purchase in the Conveyance department of this office).

Current drivers license or Government issued identification.

If either party has been married before you must provide a certified copy of the divorce judgment or death certificate.

An Application form must be completed prior to purchasing your marriage license.
Age requirements:

18 years or older, parental consent is not required.

A minor sixteen or seventeen years of age may not enter into a matrimonial agreement without judicial authorization and the written
concurrence of his father and mother, or of the parent having his legal custody, or of the tutor of his person.

No marriage license for a minor under the age of sixteen shall be issued. No marriage license for a minor of the age of sixteen
or seventeen shall be issued where there is an age difference of three years or greater between the persons seeking the marriage license.
WAIVER, if Applicable:
24 – Hour Waiver
Licenses generally must be purchased at least 24 hours in advance of the ceremony but can be purchased up to 30 days in advance. The license is good for 30 days from date of purchase and must be used by that time.
NO REFUNDS ON UNUSED/EXPIRED LICENSE. Certified copies of marriage license can be purchased after the ceremony for $7.00 each.
